Stapp Interstate Toyota is Colorado's ONLY 16 time recepient of the prestigious President's Award

Each year, Toyota Motor Sales recognizes its stellar dealerships with the prestigious President's Award. It's a very high honor a dealership can receive from Toyota, and is only awarded to those dealerships who have demonstrated a commitment to maintaining Toyota's high standards for customer satisfaction.  We have been fortunate enough to win this award in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

One of Toyota's primary goals is to emphasize the entire ownership experience. We want to help ensure that our customers are satisfied not only at the time of purchase, but as long as they own their vehicle. Offering top quality cars and trucks is, of course, the first step - but only the beginning. Toyota dealerships strive to match the quality of our products with the finest service in the industry. In order to qualify as a President's Award winner, dealerships must excel in each of a series of categories, including Customer Sales Satisfaction and Customer Service Satisfaction. Dealerships which meet the requirements in all categories receive name badge recognition at all dealer events, national recognition in an Automotive News advertisement and, of course, the beautiful President's Award Tiffany crystal trophy.

Stapp Interstate Toyota’s success has been maintaining consistency in servicing our customers. Establishing relationships has been a staple with the Stapp family and all of the people associated with the company since its inception in 1974.

In the early 1970's Bob Stapp Sr. had been in the car business for many years. Working for Lyons Toyota in Boulder, CO, the opportunity presented itself to purchase a Toyota franchise in Longmont, CO. One of his sons, Art Stapp, who was working in the parts department at Lyons Toyota while finishing his MBA at The University of Colorado, joined Bob Sr. in Longmont with his mother Amy Stapp. Longmont Toyota was born.

Longmont Toyota ran for many years at 116 S Main St. in Longmont with primarily Bob Sr, Art, and Amy, but they had a special formula that is still used at the dealership today. Treating customers like people, going above and beyond their expectations, maintaining consistency in customer satisfaction and showing customers that their transaction was and is much more than just another car deal. To the Stapp organization, it is about establishing relationships that last decades. Word of the “Stapp Way” of doing business spread through the community and with it, the growth of Longmont Toyota.

The Journey continued when Bob Stapp Jr. left the insurance profession in Denver to join the family business at Longmont Toyota. Sharing the same ideals, Bob Jr. brought another great element to the organization and the company continued to grow.

In 1988, the Stapps were awarded a Mazda franchise to also be established in Longmont. For many years, both stores were run with a relatively small team of exceptional people in sales, parts, and service.

The Stapp family has always believed in supporting its hometown and did so by backing local athletics, donating to charities, and supporting the community. Both of Art Stapp’s boys played in the local youth athletic programs in Longmont and Niwot and both moved on to play college football with Clint Stapp at the University of Montana and Brion Stapp at Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.

After college and several years working at various Toyota dealerships in Boston, Brion Stapp joined the family business in 2000. Working with his family and upholding the business philosophies and ideals, Brion was another important building block for the growth and expansion of the company.

Toyota's “Moving Forward” campaign defined its focus in all aspects of the company and is desire to continuously improve the customer's experience. The Stapps agreed and decided the time had come for Longmont Toyota to take the next step and build a new facility that would be able to service their customers and future customers to the fullest. The decision was made to build a new store on Interstate 25 between exit 235 and 240 that would make all of these things possible.

In 2007 Stapp Interstate Toyota opened it's doors for business becoming the first Toyota Image 2 store in the state of Colorado.  Stapp Interstate Toyota also includes a  larger showroom, receptionist greeting, larger customer sitting area, media room, kids play area, customer work center, free wireless internet, 24 service bays, covered service drive, covered new car delivery area, spacious parts department, cafe, loaner cars, rental cars and a tremendous selection of new and used vehilces.

In 2009 Clint Stapp followed in his Father & Grandfather's footsteps and joined Stapp Interstate Toyota.  Clint's desire to evolve the business philosophies started in 1974 while maintaining the "Stapp Way" was a very exciting addition to the dealership's future.

Even though the building has changed, our ideals have not and our mission statement will always read:

“Our work brings the human family closer together. We want consistency between our plans and our actions. We act as partners with our customers. We encourage them to teach us how to do business with them. We make our systems work for the customer, not make the customer adapt to our systems. Our customers should leave us feeling understood. We understand the impact of our actions on our customers. Business comes where it is invited; business stays where it is well serviced. A customer is a highly valued asset; a customer is not an interruption to our routine. We give our unconditional commitment to enhance the quality of life and human growth. We are committed to fulfilling our ethical and social responsibilities.”
